Well, I have most of my first aid kit ready. Good thing, because we plan to go hiking at Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest on the 23rd.
By the way, I won't be around for any of next week, so updates will most likely not be happening unless I can find a telnet client with ssh support at Microsoft Tech Ed. Don't worry, I plan to wear my tux shirt while I'm there.
McVeigh was executed today. I understand that a lot of people felt that this was the right thing to do, but I just don't see how having the government kill someone is really a solution to any problems. I pretty much agree with what was posted on my dog wants to be on the radio about the issue.
I think that it also bugs me that he wasn't really understood. I heard a woman on the radio tonight that characterized him as a demon that couldn't show remorse. This woman apparently didn't bother to find out why he blew up the building. I don't agree with his point of view or with his actions, but I can at least stretch my mind far enough to understand where he was coming from. He didn't choose to do what he did because he simply wanted to hurt a bunch of people, he chose to do it because he viewed himself as a part of a population that was actively at war with the United States Government. In that context his actions make some sense, even if they aren't acceptable or tolerable. Anyway, my point is that peolpe don't always do things that you expect or like, but the least we can do is try to understand why they did what they did.
